Good Grief Charlie Brown

                                              

    "I think every week should have one day in it when boys give presents to girls" - Lucy van Pelt.  You can't help but love (or hate 😛) Lucy from the Peanuts cartoon and comic strip.  Whether she's pulling the football away from Charlie Brown at the last moment before he kicks it, or she's doling out psychiatric advice for a $.05, Lucy has made a lasting impression on most of us growing up. (Hey wait...was she the reason I went to school for psychology??? 😏 he he). Lucy known for her tormenting, teasing, mocking, and intimidation of the other children (especially Charlie Brown), is generally the antagonist in a majority of the stories.  One Christopher Caldwell (senior editor at The Weekly Standard) commented on Lucy as being perceived as a 'fussbudget' said this, "Lucy is no 'fussbudget'. She's an American nightmare, a combination of zero brains, infinite appetites and infinite self-esteem, who is (for that reason) able to run roughshod over all her playmates. At her best, she is the most terrifying character in the history of comics".   haha  

    With a reputation like that who wouldn't want to get a bit more friendly with this devilish character. 👿 Well how do I do that, you might ask.  And the answer is, by learning how to draw her!  The Charles M. Schulz Museum is having an online event via Zoom where you can do just that.  This is a live, interactive, and lighthearted how-to-draw online Zoom class that is set for Thursday March 11th 2021 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm (Pacific Time/PT). The class will be hosted by staff artist Mary Shyne and will cost $10 for members and $15 for Non-members.  Advanced registration is required, (registration closes at midnight/PT on March 10)  and you can do this by either calling (707) 284-1272 or by visiting there website Charles M. Schulz Museum | Official Website  and signing up.  This how-to will have you learning to draw some of her many expressions as well as exploring Lucy's multi-faceted personality.  What you do with these new drawing skills is up to you.  Will Charlie Brown finally kick the football in your drawing? 🏈
